This instrumental track is so funky, I can’t get it out of my head! From what I can tell this Reality “Disco Party” album is on the TSG records label, which was a tax scam label back in the mid 70′s. This is one of those albums I’m going to find at a garage sale some day.

Joanna and I had a blast at the sold out Allen Stone show at the newly renovated Neptune Theatre last night. About halfway through Allen said “It’s about to get greasy in here” and the place was dripping with funk by the end. The whole band killed it with super tight arrangements. Both Seattle Rock Orchestra and Macklamore played with Allen during his set. One of the highlights was his ripping rendition of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love”. Here’s a sneak taste of ”What I’ve Seen” from the show.
There was so many songs to choose from for my list this year, but I narrowed it down to the eleven below. This MightyMoss mix tape was my first attempt at using my new Hercules MP3 controller. Way different (in a good way) from mixing vinyl records together like I’m used to. You can download it here, cheers!
Joanna and I were asked to provide artwork for the zine ERG around the theme of WORK. We love how Rachael, Rainey, John and the rest put this project together and were glad to be apart of it. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to see the printed version you can view it below.
Joanna and I saw the Amon Tobin “ISAM Live” concert during the Decibel Festival last week. It was absolutely spectacular. It’s hard to describe what that show was. Light sound sculpture? Teleported future magic? all the above! This IS the future of electronic music live. Here’s my footage from the night.
The Howe Art Gallery is always our favorite stop on Orcas Island, this time I had to shoot video of Anthony’s sculptures. Each of these pieces changes in the wind and light. Just brilliant! The music is “Go Outside” by Cults.
Here’s my video edit from the Seattle stop of the Sketchbook Project Tour. So many creative artists from around the world had books in the show. Thanks to the Art House Co-op for producing & curating this event. And thanks to all the beautiful artists we met at the show. Keep sketching!
The 2011 Sketchbook Project, a traveling exhibition of artist sketchbooks from around the world, is arriving in Seattle next month. Both Joanna and I have books in this exhibition and are looking forward to the opening. Joanna’s theme was “A Day In The Life”, and my theme was “Capture The Flag”. Back in the early ninties Coeur d’Alene, Idaho based band Black Happy took the Northwest by storm with their albums Friendly Dog Salad and Peghead but disbanded around 1995. My friend Mike Hasseries who played trombone in the band let me know after 15 years they’re gettin’ the band back together for a few reunion dates in August.
I’m completely stoked to see them play again as well as creating a poster for the shows. I wanted to keep it b/w because of the band name & I thought a smiling goat with human teeth would fit their image precisely. Below is the poster for the August 20th show at the Crocodile in Seattle.
