Denny-Lincoln Classic

Last weekend was the “Denny-Lincoln Classic” bike ride from Sadie’s school, Denny International Middle School, down to Lincoln Park in West Seattle. Sadie & I worked together on the event logo. Sadie drew the bike riding dolphin logo for the event, I helped with the type. Below is a short GoPro and iPhone edit I shot riding with the teachers, parents and kids. I hope this turns into a yearly school ride!

Creatures In The Streets

I have a new personal project I wanted to share titled “Creatures In The Street”. I’ve been taking photos of things that look like creatures around the city, then drawing my interpretation. The first couple drawings are up here so take a look! You can also start following the Creatures In The Street Facebook page to see all the latest drawings.

Evan’s Top 12 Songs of 2012

This year I decided to use a Spotify playlist to share my favorite songs of 2012. The only problem is Spotify doesn’t have all the songs I wanted to include. The Shad song was too good not to share, so count it as the hidden playlist track. Love the “Cannonball” sample!

12/12/12 is worth a drawing

I decided to draw up some custom type for today’s once-in-a-lifetime date, 12/12/12. Yeti’s approve sequential numbers.

My sketchbook is traveling

My sketchbook is heading to Art House Co-op’s “A Landmark & A Mission” exhibitions in Pitsburgh PA 11/16, Ann Arbor MI 11/17, & Cleveland OH 11/18. Each show is an interactive art exhibition on wheels, featuring a rotating selection of work from The Sketchbook Project installed in a custom-crafted library trailer. For those that can’t make the shows you can flip through my “Capture The Flag” themed sketchbook here.

25 States and counting

I was reading the stories of Amber Nolan’s jethiking adventure today. Her goal is to hitch rides on small planes and visit all 50 states. As of today she had visited 12 states. After reading that I started to count all the states I have visited in my life and realized I have hit 25 out of 50 so far. Not bad! You can pick your state’s using this handy website tool.

Interbike 2012: Headtube Badges

The annual Interbike trade show happened in Vegas at the end of September, with all the new 2013 bicycle related products on display. This year I spent time discovering all of the well designed head tube logos and badges I saw around the show. Some were new, some were vintage, some were extremely detailed. You can tell a lot about a brand’s image, heritage and craftsmanship just from the head tube label. Here’s a small sampling of my favorites.

Dress Classy, Dance Cheesy

I heard this quote from Korean pop star Psy and had to work up a “Quote of the week” design for it. Words to live by.

2012 Dead Baby Downhill

I shot the 2012 “Sweet 16″ Dead Baby Downhill from my handlebars this year. A thousand sweaty cyclists bombed from the top of Queen Anne through downtown Seattle to the Georgetown after party. It’s seriously the best bike event of the summer! A big thank-you to all that worked to make this happen.

Fun with Olympic Pictograms

With all the 2012 London Olympic hype happening I had an idea. What would happen if you combined two Olympic sports together? I took the official Olympic pictograms and started mashing them together. Here’s a few of the better results.
