Thanks to everyone for coming out last night, the show opening was fantastic! This was the first group art show that I’ve produced through my job at SBS for Pryme Helmets. I partnered with the Design Commission Gallery to host the show, big props to Matty and Jay for making all the details come together.

The show opening was May 3rd in conjunction with the Seattle First Thursday Art Walk. 21 Artists (Joanna and I included) were each given a white Pryme V2 Helmet as their canvas to customize. Patrons voted at the show on their favorite helmet using a web interface. Pryme will then produce a limited edition graphic package based upon the winning artist work.

Artists include Jared K. Nickerson, Jim Koch, Jesse LeDoux, Jeff “Weirdo” Jacobs, Jeanie Newby, Justin Hillgrove, Joanna Abbott-Moss, Steve Rocketkar, Evan Moss, Mark Bently, Ben Malay, Candace Catskin, Jay Dokken, Samantha Malay, Josh McCurdy, Matty Mitchell, Luz Bratcher, Darin Montgomery, Mike Capp, Saingbey Woodtor and Luke Dokken.

Below is Joanna’s “Use it or loose it” birds nest helmet sculpture, and my “Seastache” piece.

This afternoon I dived deep into drawing mustaches and sea creatures on a helmet. This is my first time using a gold pen and I really like how finished it looks. The helmet is for the Pryme Brain Dump show, featuring custom helmet art from 20 Seattle area artists. You can get all the info on the show here.

This trip to Hong Kong I wanted to capture daily life on the streets as well as how the city changes as it goes from day to night. HK has an east meets west vibe, which is very inspiring to me. Being a big fan of typography I was drawn to the Cantonese/English signage that covered every inch of the city, especially when it lights up at dusk. I enjoyed drawing the chaotic Lock Rd street food vendors and signs.

This instrumental track is so funky, I can’t get it out of my head! From what I can tell this Reality “Disco Party” album is on the TSG records label, which was a tax scam label back in the mid 70′s. This is one of those albums I’m going to find at a garage sale some day.

I just saw one copy sell on Ebay for $1256. Crazy! Here’s a link to that auction: http://bit.ly/xmSAjy

Joanna and I had a blast at the sold out Allen Stone show at the newly renovated Neptune Theatre last night. About halfway through Allen said “It’s about to get greasy in here” and the place was dripping with funk by the end. The whole band killed it with super tight arrangements. Both Seattle Rock Orchestra and Macklamore played with Allen during his set. One of the highlights was his ripping rendition of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love”. Here’s a sneak taste of ”What I’ve Seen” from the show.

There was so many songs to choose from for my list this year, but I narrowed it down to the eleven below. This MightyMoss mix tape was my first attempt at using my new Hercules MP3 controller. Way different (in a good way) from mixing vinyl records together like I’m used to. You can download it here, cheers!
